God’s protection

Friday night I was meeting with the staff at the church to plan an up coming event. There were a ton of unsolved problems and every one was a little frustrated, every one but me. When I had a chance to speak I said I don't think this is going to work very well but that doesn't really upset me. I had a grin from ear to ear. Thankfully all in that meeting understood exactly why I was unaffected by the problem that faced us. Then they all smiled with me.

The events of the past two weeks had been the hardest Donna and I have lived through. Our son had fallen off the roof of our house and fractured his scull in four places as well as a fractured vertebra. We rushed to one hospital that looked like what you would expect a third world hospital to look like. We quickly ascertained that there where over 40 people waiting to see a doctor. Among these were shot up gang members bleeding allover the place. Even though Tim was unconscious and in serious condition he didn't have the appearance of being as bad as them. I thought he would die there. With the help of our friends we were able to get him out of there and to another hospital where he remained 12 days in intensive care. We waited three and a half days for the swelling on his brain to come down. To the relief of us all on the fourth day he opened his eyes and smiled.

Those that were in that meeting had also been with us that night. They were among those that helped us get him to the right hospital. They stayed by us prayed with us and for us. They bought things up to the hospital. What ever we needed they were there. Then they rejoiced with us when we found out he would be all right.

And so we still have a bunch of unsolved problems, but to me and Donna and our friends around us that doesn't seem to affect us quite as much. God has shown us how blessed we are.

Always In his Grip,
Dan Z
